Summer Skin

I feel like it has been a while since I wrote a proper beauty post on the blog and I wanted to fill you in on my current beauty staples – products that worked both beautifully on holiday in the South of France and just as well back in London. Instead of overloading all products in one post I’ll be spacing them out and also doing an epic favourites video which will be up later this week!

Today I’m going to discuss how I kept my skin in tact over 11 days in the South of France that included lots of sun, lots of moving around and chopping and changing hotels as well as a handful of nights were I didn’t get to sleep before the sun had risen.

Firstly skincare. If there’s one skincare product that I would recommend to anyone with sensitive, acne prone or just unhappy skin it will be this. I’ve been using it on and off for 6 years now and every time I go back to it I get angry with myself for not repurchasing it quicker. It’s that good. The product I’m talking about is of course Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective – it’s billed as a hydrating, soothing fluid for irritated or sensitive skin. On holiday I used it three times a day – once in the AM pre SPF, in the early evening after showering as a base for my evening makeup and then of course in the early hours after I’d cleansed. It sinks into the skin beautifully, at first slightly tacky and then absorbing and leaving skin hydrated. If you’re oily skinned you wont even need a moisturiser on top (although I like to add a light one in the evenings sometimes) – it is like a green juice for your skin. My skin was going through a rough patch before I left, a wonderful facial with Lucia at Knightsbridge Nail and Beauty (my favourite facialist in London) and this has left it better than ever. I can’t recommend this product to you enough, it’s one I’ve both bought myself multiple times and been sent and I’ve never been sponsored by Skinceuticals – I just really really rate it.

In terms of SPF there’s only ever one brand that I trust in the sun and that’s of course La Roche Posay Anthelios XL this Summer I trialled their anti-shine gel cream which is slightly tinted. It is very nourishing and none greasy and leaves skin evened out as well as protected. My dark marks and pigmentation were kept well at bay.

For the evenings I mixed two products for my base. The first is By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Sun Glow which is like a very very sheer tan foundation, I mix two pumps of the bronze formula with one of my beloved Suqqu Frame Fix Liquid Foundation Lightness for the perfect satin finish look. Back in London and I’m still using the duo so that my face doesn’t look freakishly white next to the rest of my body. If you have good skin then you could get away with using the Sun Glow and some concealer alone for a natural bronzed goddess look.

So there you have my Summer skin essentials. What are some of yours?
