Cool Girl Perfume

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – I am a marketing team’s dream. I lap up any and all marketing ploy that elevates a brand from yet another run of the mill beauty one to a cool girl club that you can be a part of with the click of a button or a swipe of an Amex. Think Glossier, Byredo, NARS and Le Labo – they all share a paired down monochromatic/minimalist aesthetic and produce products of superb quality whilst simultaneously transporting the wearer into a secret (or not so as the case may be) cool girl club.

I think I was about 22 when I’d had enough of beauty hall/duty free fragrance (although special shout outs to Roberto Cavalli, Prada Candy, any CHANEL espesh No.5, Dior Pure Poison, YSL Cinema and Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb as they’re all ridiculously good night out/sexy scents!) and craved something more individual. I’ve tried some truly beautiful Artisan fragrances since but today I want to talk to you about Le Labo and more specifically Rose 31 which is a recent addition to my collection. The scent is based around the Grasse Rose and is one of the first times I’ve smelt a rose fragrance that could be unisex. It has the sharpness paired with the muskiness that I crave in fragrance as well as leaving the wearer (read: me) feel illusive and mysterious. I prefer to wear it in the daytime to smell cool yet professional as in the evenings at the moment I’m mainly obsessed with the new Tom Ford Violet Orchid (more on that soon) as well as the aforementioned Flowerbomb and Tom Ford Santal Blush. Expect a full fragrance video coming soon!

I just love a good special perfume! In Italy we call this type of non-commercial perfume “di nicchia” that means for a small part of public/market… I I’m a perfume lover I still buy commercial fragrance but I really enjoy the more artistan fragrance! I have this passion since high school and by now I have a quite extensive collection! I store my perfume in a vintage metal box in my room strictly out of the sun… in the day I even put a foulard over the box ahahahah decor + safety for my babies ❤

Yes we say “niche” in English with the same meaning! I’m not as good at storing my perfumes – I like all the beautiful bottles out on display! x

Love your blog and Youtube videos Tijan. I bought a discovery set by Le Labo and the scents were amazing, so subtle and elegent. There was a very “clean” element to them as well and not like your average perfumes which make me cough and irritate my skin. Great post.
