October Catch Up

Optimized-IMG_8943 Optimized-IMG_9029 Optimized-IMG_9031

I have my Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt candle flickering and Notting Hill on Netflix on in the background finishing up some last bits and pieces of work for the day when I realised it has been nearly a whole month since I last updated my blog properly. It’s been a whirlwind of a month – of an Autumn to be honest filled with weddings and trips and quite a few exciting work projects.

I’ve been trying my best to upload a video on my YouTube at least once a week and I hope you’ve been enjoying them, I’ve kept them more fashion focussed as I never felt truly passionate about my beauty videos, whilst I love discussing products I just never felt comfortable with my makeup application so struggled with tutorials. That’s not to say there won’t be any beauty content ever, just a limited amount.

I also started Invisalign treatment with Centre for Dentistry who I couldn’t recommend enough, they’ve been truly fantastic and so friendly – my dentist Omer Mustafa has made my treatment seamless so far and I’m really loving the process. I had train track braces between 12-14 and actually had four teeth removed prior to treatment, I’ve always had a very small mouth and quite big teeth so have struggled with overcrowding. Although my teeth were perfect back in the early noughties a lack of wearing my retainer lead to them slowly moving out of place. Whilst they were by no means awful, after watching myself back in vlogs I decided I wanted to get them totally fixed for good and decided that Invisalign would be the best option for me. I experienced a very minimal amount of pain for the first 48 hours – more discomfort and difficulty speaking, however after about 3 days I felt totally normal and am now on my second (out of fourteen) set of aligners and feel totally at ease with the process. I can’t wait to see my final results and will be filling you guys in monthly on my progress.

In other news those who follow me on Instagram will know that I’ve had a real health kick and have caught the exercise bug thanks to KXU which is a new gym in Chelsea offering barre, boxing and other super fun classes. I love everything about it and the energy puts me in the best mood, I wish I’d known how happy exercise makes you in all the years that I forged notes from my parents to get off sports at school! I’m not focussing on weight loss or anything like that, I’m exercising purely to feel good and healthy and have found my body so much more resilient especially with all of the travelling I’ve been doing.

Outfit details above are pretty simple – CHANEL shoes and bag, & Other Stories jeans and Zara jumper (sold out but similar linked) and my current fave shades by Parisian brand Jimmy Fairly.

Have a fabulous week!

    Happy October, Tijan!

I just wanted to say that I’d still love to hear you talk about your favourite beauty products on Youtube. You’re a lot like me (and most women I know) and you don’t drastically vary your makeup look on an everyday basis, so it makes sense to do fewer tutorials and instead focus on your favourite products – even if it’s just a different version of the same product each time! That’s why I hate when I see Youtubers getting criticised for making tutorials/beauty videos that are ‘same-y’. There are a lot of incredible, creative people doing colourful makeup looks out there, but it’s nice to see girls with more low-key looks I can relate to! (sorry for the essay haha)

Best of luck with your Invisalign! I started wearing my retainers again after 5 or so years so I (literally) feel your pain! xxx

Hi Tijan I love your beauty/make up tutorials. It is so refreshing to see natural makeup tutorials showing just how to enhance your REAL and natural beauty and not completely cake yourself in makeup like alot of others and completely change the way you look. Would watch your beauty tutorials over others any day xx
