Spring is full of bank holidays, and whilst I’d love to say I’ve spent them sauntering through parks and picnicking the great British weather just hasn’t held up and I’ve spent 90% of my weekends in a tracksuit with a cup of Dr Stuart’s tea and my kindle surgically attached to my hand. However I did venture out a fair amount this weekend and made it to the Barbican to see Jude Law in Obsession, I also headed to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (worth seeing for the soundtrack alone) and went for a family lunch. I wanted to feel Spring like but with temperatures dallying around the 15 degree mark I knew that a little dress just simply wouldn’t cut the mustard.

So to “Spring up” my Wintery basics of blue jeans (H&M) and grey sweater (Bershka) I opted to wear my new basket bag which I purchased from Zara whilst on the way to the cinema. I love that it’s an unbranded bag and instantly makes me feel like Jane Birkin, she’s long been one of my greatest style inspirations and I love how she wears clothes as opposed to her wearing them. A side note, whilst I am all one for luxury and love me a designer handbag as much as a hot meal I would like to note that money doth not buy style and yada yada, if you don’t have the cash to buy a new “it” bag every season and the high street haven’t quite caught up with your needs I’d recommend venturing into either Rokit or Beyond Retro to check out some vintage finds (where I bought a few basket bags last Summer before they became a high street thang)  – throw in a touch of vintage, a splash of high street and ta da you have a lewk that doesn’t break the bank. Oh and Urban Outfitters make the best shades on a budget, and when you do want to splash out a little I couldn’t recommend a good All Saints leather jacket enough – this one that I’m wearing (linked below) is buttery soft and continually makes me feel like a rockstar.

I admire how you can make jeans and a jumper look so effortless and chic. And those sunnies – where are they from? So flattering!
